Mock Drill at Ambiance Mall Underpass successfully conducted today by GMDA
-Working of Pumping Machinery and DG Sets were tested to curb any incidence of waterlogging during the monsoon season.
Gurugram, 15 May 2024: As part of the flood preparedness initiatives being taken up by the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), ahead of the upcoming monsoon season; the mock drill scheduled at the underpass at Ambiance Mall was successfully carried out today by GMDA. During the mock drill, the pumping machinery, DG Sets and efficacy of the drainage network were tested, in order to curb any incidence of waterlogging during the upcoming monsoon season. Present were officials of GMDA and NHAI.
Recycled water from fire tender was released into the underground sumps in the underpass. Once the sumps were filled, the pumps were activated to check their working and efficacy in pumping out the water. The pumping machinery and diesel generator sets at the underpasses were found to be functioning to their full capacity.
The Authority has scheduled the mock drills in all the 14 underpasses in the city. These mock drills at the underpasses will help gauge the on-ground situation and to assess the functioning of the dewatering pumping system in the underpasses.
Under NHAI, the mock drills of the remaining underpasses are scheduled as follows: Shankar Chowk on 16th May, Iffco Chowk Metro Station to MG Road on 17th May, Signature Tower on 20th May, Rajiv Chowk on 21st May, Hero Honda Chowk on 22nd May and Medanta Road underpass on 23rd May.
Simultaneously, the mock drills for the underpasses on Golf Course Road will be also be undertaken along with DLF. The mock drills of both the U-turn underpasses in DLF Cyber city will be on 24th May, Sikanderpur Underpass on 27th May, DLF Phase 1 underpass on 31st May & the Genpact underpass on 3rd June.
Along with PWD officials, the mock drills of the underpass at Atul Kataria Chowk has been scheduled for 28th May and for the underpass at Mahavir Chowk on 30th May. The mock drill at the Huda City Centre underpass will be carried out on 29th May.
