770 additional LED Street Lights to be installed in sectors 68-80; GMDA invites bids for Phase 2 of the project
-770 Smart and Connected LED Street Lights will be provided along total road length of 11.50 KM in sectors 68-80.
-Under Phase 1, installation of 835 such LED street lights is already underway along 10.3 KMs road length in sectors 68-80.
Gurugram, 08 August: Residents of sectors 68 to 80 and commuters travelling through this stretch of the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) will benefit from enhanced street lighting during night time. The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) under Phase 2 of the Smart and Connected Street Light project, will soon take up the work to further install 770 such street lights in these sectors. The Authority has floated the tender for this work which will be carried out at a cost of Rs 6.59 Crore and duration of work completion is one year from the date of allotment.
These additional street lights will be installed along 11.50 Km road length of sectors 68 -80 which include sector dividing roads Sector 71-72, Sector 73-74, Sector 75A-76, Sector 78-79 (Dividing 78/79, 78/79A) along with Outer Road Sector 70A, Outer Road Sector 77 and Outer road Sector 79 and 79B.
The smart lights will be connected and monitored by the Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) & other remote devices of GMDA, in terms of complete functioning, mapping GPS coordinates and health of the street lights with real-time tracking. The advanced technology integrated with these smart traffic lights will also support in identifying incidents of thefts of lights, enable dimming during less traffic hours, and other remote operational activity for each individual street light. In case of any malfunction or instance of vandalism, an alarm will also be raised to support quick detection and redressal of any issue that arises on-ground.
The Electrical Division of GMDA said that the provision of these smart and connected street lights will be of immense benefit to commuters and enhance safety on the road. Using a cloud-based application, the officials will be able to remotely micro-manage and control the complete functioning of these lights.
The first phase of this project is already underway wherein GMDA is already installing 835 such smart and connected street lights in sectors 68 to 80 on master roads dividing sectors 76-77, 75A-76, 75-75A, 73-74, 71-73, 70-75 70-70A, 68-69 and 68-70A.
In phase 2, GMDA is planning to install additional 770 Smart and Connected LED Lights for the balance constructed roads in these sectors, for the benefit of the public.
