- 3.7 km stretch on both sides of sector dividing roads and green belts of sectors 61, 62, 66, 67, 69 and 70 were cleared of encroachments
Gurugram, August 8: The Enforcement Wing of Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) successfully conducted a 2-day demolition drive wherein, illegal structures and encroachments found along the green belts and master roads of Sectors 61,62,66,67,69 and 70 were demolished. Over 3.7 Kms of area was made encroachment-free.
“We are taking strict measures to clear all encroachment found along master roads and green belts of Gurugram, as per the directions of CEO GMDA. We will have zero tolerance against the violators and will continue repeated checks to ensure that re-encroachment does not occur,” said R.S. Batth, DTP, GMDA who led the drive.
The officials today cleared the illegal encroachment made by shop keepers in front of their shops. Additionally, a large number of shanties, shops, unlicensed street vendors who were operating along the ROW and green belts of GMDA, without taking due permission of MCG were also removed during the drive.
During the demolition drive that spanned two days; 48 slum huts (jhuggi), 14 tea stalls (chaiwale), 25 plant nurseries, 3 shops, 42 temporary shops selling juice & furniture, panwadi shops, fruit and vegetable vendors, 7 Building Material shops, 5 Car workshops were cleared. Additionally, 8 illegal accesses made by Car showrooms and repair shops on GMDA ROW were also blocked by the Enforcement Wing.
Present in the drive were officials from the Urban Planning and GIS Divisions of the Authority.
Various anti-encroachment drives have been led by the Enforcement Wing across various locations in the city which include Rajiv Chowk, Sector 16 along on NH-48, MG Road, SPR, Village Sakatpur among others to keep the green belts and ROW free of unauthorized structures and illegal inhabitation. Illegal access permissions made on GMDA ROW have also been removed by the Enforcement Wing.
