The Enforcement Wing of GMDA today continued its demolition drive on Old Bus Stand road and Sohna Road.
Gurugram, 28 October: Further to the anti-encroachment drives conducted earlier this month by the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority at various key locations in the city, the Enforcement Wing of GMDA led by DTP GMDA, R.S. Baath, revisited the old bus stand road and cleared the illegal kiosks as well as directed approximately 10 shopkeepers against encroaching the road.
The Traffic Police team is also monitoring the stretch and found that out of the 100 rehris stationed earlier on this road, only 15-20 rehris remain and there has been a significant improvement in traffic movement since the series of demolition drives conducted by GMDA on this busy road.
It was conveyed by the locals that there permanent vending carts which encroach the area and requested GMDA officials to remove them in order to further improve the traffic situation and decongest the area. GMDA will soon be taking strict against the hawkers and clear the unathorised vending carts.
Furthermore, during the inspection visit on Sohna road from Ghasola chowk to Vatika chowk, inhabitants of all the jhuggies found along the footpath have been personally warned and directed to remove the same latest by 3rd November else GMDA and MCG officials will jointly clear the area by 4th November. Illegal kiosks on this stretch were also removed.
“It is being ensured that offenders do not re-encroach the area where the land has been cleared by GMDA. Regular inspection and monitoring visits are being carried out across all such locations and suitable action will be taken against those who violate the norms, said R.S. Batth.
GMDA officers have also today visited Old Delhi Road along with MCG officials and Traffic Police personnel to gauge the on-ground situation and take further necessary action against encroachment on this road.
