- Tender floated for strengthening & repair of 5.5 Km road stretch
- New slip roads will also be constructed
*Gurugram, 24 December*: The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) will soon be taking up the work to improve the road conditions of Southern Peripheral Road (SPR). The Authority has invited bids for the work of strengthening and repair of SPR from Vatika Chowk up to NH-48, near Kherki Daula, which will be carried out at a cost of Rs. 9.65 crores.
“This is one of the busiest stretches of Gurugram and witnesses heavy traffic volume. GMDA will overlay the existing road with Bituminous Concrete to improve ridership quality for commuters and ease congestion on this stretch,” said Arun Dhankar, Chief Engineer, GMDA.
In addition to strengthening the main carriageway, new slip roads will also be constructed along this corridor, to further provide respite to the residents traversing on this road. The Authority had earlier this year also carried out the special road repair work of SPR from Ghata to Vatika Chowk.
The upgradation plan of Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) wherein a signal free corridor from Vatika Chowk to NH48-CPR with the provision of an elevated corridor is also being taken up by GMDA, which will be instrumental in providing a long-term solution traffic for efficient mobility. The elevated road once constructed will help reduce traffic congestion on the ground level by providing an additional layer for vehicles and improve traffic flow and reduce bottlenecks, especially during peak hours. Linking Vatika Chowk to NH-48 will provide a crucial connect between the southern parts of Gurugram and the national highway network, facilitating easier and faster access to Delhi, Jaipur, and other key destinations within the city.
